Understanding Cylinder Expiry Dates and Periodic Inspection Standards

In Germany and across Europe, propane gas cylinders are subject to strict technical standards and regular testing periods (such as TÜV inspections) to guarantee structural safety under pressure.

What to Look For:

  • Inspection Stamp (Prüffrist): Cylinders have an embossed or stamped inspection date indicating when the next periodic re-qualification is due.
  • Valve Condition: Valves must turn smoothly without damage to the left-hand thread (W 21.8 x 1/14″ LH).
  • Surface Condition: Cylinders with deep rust, dents, or fire exposure must be retired immediately.

At AnhaltGas, all refill cylinders undergo strict quality and safety checks prior to refilling.
