How to Perform a Bubble Leak Test on Propane Regulators and Hoses

Before operating any gas equipment, checking connection points for micro-leaks is a mandatory safety routine. Never use an open flame or lighter to test for gas leaks.

Step-by-Step Leak Test:

  1. Prepare the Solution: Mix water with a few drops of dishwashing liquid or use a certified leak detection spray (Lecksuchspray).
  2. Apply to Joints: Apply the soapy liquid to the cylinder valve, pressure regulator connection, and hose fittings.
  3. Turn on the Valve: Slowly open the cylinder valve without igniting the appliance.
  4. Observe: If bubbles grow, there is a leak. Turn off the valve immediately, tighten the fittings or replace worn seals/hoses, and test again.
